About Us

City 3:17 is a community that gathers for worship, study, fellowship and service to the community. It is a religious community that approaches the Christian philosophy in a unique way.

What does "City 3:17" mean? The number 3:17 is a reference to the passage in the bible John 3:17. "God did not send His son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through him might be set free."

If Jesus didn't come to the world to condemn us, we as a religious community should not condemn each other. We are all broken as human, and this will be a community of people who love each other past our brokeness.

Most people know the verse John 3:16 - you see it on signs at sporting events all the time! But John 3:16 makes no sense without the next verse! It shows us in Jesus' own words how he approached the world in love, not condemnation, to set us free from our brokeness.

This community will be one that accepts people as they are. It is not our place to condemn or judge. But it is our job to love and uplift each other and to show each other how God can heal our brokeness.

The "City" portion of the title is meant to show that this is simply a community.

So, the long version of "City 3:17" would look something like this : "Community of people who love and uphold one another without condemnation and share the message of Christ."

But that's a little long..... So we will be named:
